January 15th, 2007 - 9:51 a.m

After much worry and tears yesterday, the medical team did get Lauren stabilized yesterday afternoon, and she had a calm night. They are concerned that some sort of infection has taken hold, but finding it remains a big mystery. So, the search continues, which most likely will include a spinal tap today, unfortunately. Meanwhile she remains on a long list of drugs and antibiotics. Your thoughts and prayers mean everything to us right now.

Keep the faith,

Grant

Keeping the faith, big time. So glad to hear she had a calm night.
Big, tight "cyber hug" to both of you. I know we all wish we had the power to smooth out this painful roller-coaster for you. But, you and Lauren are clearly in good hands. She can do it!
Love, Lor

Dear Kaia, Grant, Lauren and Connor--
Lauren's strength and determination are so strong, I can see the aura emanating from St. Joe's from my office window. On this day when we celebrate the fighters in this world, I would say you have one world-class, scrappy little girl there!
Love (which really doesn't cover everything I feel for you guys) Elena

Grant & Kaia,

Carl and I think of you and your family every day. We're praying for Lauren's quick recovery from this last infection. The ICU is a one step forward, 2 steps back kind of a place, and hopefully this will be one of Lauren's last set backs. Lauren's many procedures and responses to meds and abx must test every bit of faith you have - with strong loving parents, she is sure to recover.

Love, Gina & Carl Hutchins

Kaia and Grant,

We have been following your days very closely and want you to know that you are top of mind. I send whatever energy and strength I have to offer, but the power of love between child and parents gives you what you need to endure. You are all blessed to have each other and Lauren is a strong addition to your fabric of family and friends.

Thanks for the update and the blog address today, Grant- I got in and read everything from the beginning - the daily details help us understand better what an incredibly difficult and amazing journey you all are on. Little Lauren is definitely a fighter- which bodes well for her. You both looked very tired, and we wish we could help in some way.... hope she stays stabilized and that you both can get more rest, so that special parental love and energy will continue to flow into her little body and her big spirit to help her recovery. We both send positive vibes your way and to your precious little one(s).

Kaia and Grant,

There are no words to express how sorry I am that your family is going through this difficult time.

However, having known Kaia at EDAW, if Lauren has half the spunk that Kaia has (which is already obvious by her will to live and her fight) then I believe she will be home with you and Connor soon.

I know it must feel as if you can't go on some days; but by reading these blogs your inner strength, determination and love are very apparent and those are the things that will keep you going as God continues to wrap all of you in his love and continues to keep his angels around Lauren.

I will continue to keep you in my heart and prayers.
